Start buying grocery items on special now and create your own holiday hamper. Consider items that you need on Christmas Day as well as over the holiday period for when you go on outings.

If you buy a cheap plastic bucket each shopping day and fill it with your specials (or half fill it) you not only end up with plenty of christmas food but plenty of buckets for washing, kids to play with, portable herb/vegie gardens, toy containers, etc. My kids have water fights and since we are in the drought affected area, it saves water and they can cool off.
